Drunk driver nearly hits police officers

On Behalf of | Oct 7, 2016 | Drunk Driving |

Drunken driving can lead to dangerous choices behind the wheel. According to authorities, a man demonstrated extraordinary recklessness recently in Louisville when he failed to drive safely through an area that had been shut down for another car accident that had occurred earlier on the same road.

The man is now facing several charges, ranging from reckless driving, driving under the influence, and endangering officers. On the morning of Sept. 24, Louisville officers had shut down an area of the roadway surrounding an intersection to investigate a crash. Despite the signs to slow down and treat the area with caution, the man reportedly came speeding through the blocked-off area, nearly striking four of the officers in the process.

Police say that the man made no effort to slow down, even after passing through the blocked-off area. However, he was subsequently pulled over by officers not far down the road. When tested for sobriety, officers reported that the man’s blood alcohol levels were not only above the legal limit for driving, but were in fact almost two times the legal limit.

Safe driving begins with you, by ensuring that you are within legal and common sense limits of sobriety before you get behind the wheel. However, good people can have a momentary lapse in judgment. If they face DUI charges, they have the right to a vigorous defense.

If you or someone you know has been charged with a drunk driving offense, there’s no need to simply lie down and let the legal system throw the book at you. The representation of a qualified, experienced defense attorney can help see that your rights remain protected while ensuring that your case is presented.
