Man faces many charges after alleged DUI accident

On Behalf of | Jan 10, 2017 | Drunk Driving |

Any time you get behind the wheel, there is the possibility that you may be involved in an accident, even one that could end in tragedy. The likelihood of this only increases when there is alcohol involved. These harsh realities became all too real for several individuals in Louisville after a man careened through a stop sign and struck another vehicle, resulting in several fatalities.

The accident occurred on Dec. 16 when a man careened through a stop sign and struck another vehicle, pushing them into a third vehicle that was stopped at the intersection. The driver of the second vehicle did not survive the incident, and died at the scene. Passengers of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries.

According to court documents, the young man in question was not only driving without a license, he was also well over the legal limit for driving while intoxicated. After being questioned by the police, the man reportedly confessed to having had about eight beers before getting behind the wheel, a claim that was corroborated by the toxicology report determining that his blood-alcohol level at the time was 0.196.

On top of the needless loss of life, the young man who chose to drink and drive is now facing a litany of charges, including murder, fourth degree assault, driving without a license, operating a vehicle while under the influence, and multiple counts of wanton endangerment. Facing DUI charges is never a thing to be taken lightly. If you have been charged with a DUI, it is important to be represented by an experienced attorney to ensure that your rights remain protected and that your case is heard fairly.
